About the Artist

Julie England said her paintings, done in oils, are inspired by the outdoors, where humans are a small part of a large natural system. She is drawn to paint landscapes because of her memories and the ideas they trigger. At times, she said the landscape can be overwhelming with complexity, like life. Landscapes can communicate complex ideas. Other times, she said her connection to outdoor energy is a sense of calm like being home, while simultaneously feeling a sense of awe and wonder.
In 2018 she was honored with the SMU Mary Vernon Painting Prize from the Southern Methodist University Meadows Art faculty. Her artwork was included in New Texas Talent XXVII in 2020 and the Texas National 2018 Art Competition & Exhibition. She is a member of Strata Gallery, Santa Fe, NM.
