Honduras Threads
Zipper Design Embroidered Pillow on rust
In this lumbar pillow, the beautifully embroidered design elements enmesh like teeth in a zipper. Perfect for a chair or sofa and spectacular combined with Arcos and Dos Flores designs.
Every cent of every piece sold goes back to our associates in Honduras. Every day, these women expertly craft table runners, pillow covers, shawls, and other fiber arts items. Their income from each sale covers food and medical needs for their whole family, and school supplies and transportation to school for their children. Ultimately, this work creates dignity and self-respect.
Pamela Nelson said her life’s course was set watching her grandmother’s hands making handwork items from fabric. Full circle from start to finish and back again to start is how she said her work progresses. An artist-citizen of the City of Dallas, Pamela closely identifies with urban life. She has contributed to public art at DFW Airport, five DART light rail stations, Northpark Center, First United Methodist Church of Richardson, and several local hospitals. Her outreach includes working with Honduras Threads, the Stewpot Open Art Program, and Incarnation House. Pamela's work is in the collections of the Dallas Museum of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, El Paso Museum of Art, and several American embassies abroad. She served on the U. S. Commission of Fine Arts in Washington D.C. from 2001-2011.
